Welcome to the Riley-Smith Hall

The Riley-Smith Hall is a theatre, ballroom and concert venue located in the centre of Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

The Riley-Smith Hall, Tadcaster is available to hire for a wide range of functions. The hall is used for dances and dance competitions, rehearsals and concerts, children’s dance and theatre classes, shows, pantomimes and meetings.

Centenary Events:

The Riley-Smith Hall celebrates its centenary in 2024. A special programme of events is taking place throughout 2024 culminating in a grand finale in January 2025:

York Youth Orchestra, Spring Concert – Sunday 10th March 2024, 3.00pm

Programme: Appalachian Spring (Aaron Copland), Quiet City (Aaron Copland), Symphony No 1 ‘Spring’ (R Schumann). Two newly commissioned works by local York composers and featuring dancers from York Dance Space: Hop Skip Jump by David Lancaster and Naivety by Thomas Crawley. Conductor: Ben Crick. A Sensational Century, 100 Years of the Riley-Smith Hall – Thurs 25 to Sat 27 April 2024, performances at 7.30pm

A collaboration of Tadcaster Theatre Company and Tadcaster Community Choir. A history of the hall told through song and drama with showstoppers from each era, as performed by TTC formerly, Tadcaster Operatic Society on the Riley Smith Hall stage. The show will be presented by the hall’s founder, the late William Riley-Smith, enacted by one of our theatre company members! Plus, a large helping of humour! Tickets available by clicking here

The Queen Story – A Tribute to Queen – Sat 26th October 2024

Step into the realm of rock royalty with “The Queen Story” – the ultimate Queen tribute band! Immerse yourself in the legendary music and electrifying energy of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, and the iconic band that redefined the very essence of rock music. A two-hour show telling the story of Queen through the eras from their early shows in the 1970s, right through to the stadium performances of the 80s including a recreation of Queen’s legendary Live Aid set. This extraordinary tribute band doesn’t just capture the music – they transport you to the heart of the Queen phenomenon with their authentic costumes and dramatic stage presence. Black Dyke Band – Centenary Night Concert – Thursday 16th January 2025. A grand finale to our centenary celebrations with the world’s most famous brass band, exactly 100 years since the opening night of the Riley-Smith Hall. Tickets to be released Sept 2024.
