We’re returning to the Riley Smith Hall in Tadcaster for a whole weekend of dancing. We’ll be running workshops for  improver/intermediate/advanced dancers, and then coming together over two alternative milongas where you can put your moves to the test.

The Riley Smith Hall boasts a stunning ballroom with a sprung dancefloor – a delight to dance on!

The classes are role-balanced as far as possible to minimise the need for people to stand around waiting for their turn to dance. It’s not mandatory to attend all of the classes on your ticket – so though roles are balanced at the time of booking, there may not be 100% balance in all of the classes. Our teachers will be asked to rotate partners frequently so that everybody gets a chance to dance.

Weekend Pass 

Suitable for those who are confident with the tango basics. With this ticket, you’ll have access to everything that’s happening over the weekend.

On Saturday:

There will be alt tango workshops with practica time between sessions where your teachers will be on hand to answer any questions.

In the evening there will be a class to warm you up for the milonga. Then it’s 3.5 hours of glorious alternative tango milonga with music from your favourite nuevo DJs.

On Sunday:

You’ll have another three workshops, leading up to the afternoon alt tango milonga.

Ticket prices:

• Weekend pass – Leader & follower £200

• Weekend pass – single leader or follower £105

• Single day pass – Leader & follower £105

• Single day pass – single leader or follower £65

Milonga only tickets

If you can’t make the classes, there’s no need to miss out on the entire weekend.  Anybody is welcome to attend our milongas, tickets will be available on the door, and you don’t need a partner! Your milonga pass also gets you access to the pre-milonga class(es).

We’re a relaxed, friendly bunch. There’s no expectation to dance in tandas, nor do we insist on cabaceo when asking for a dance. We’re happy for you to swap roles during the milongas, including those who have booked specifically as ‘leaders’ or ‘followers’ during the day time.  Feel free to ask for dances with whomever and however you choose!

• £15 – Saturday milonga and pre- milonga class

• £15 – Sunday tea dance and pre-tea dance class

• £25 – Both milongas / pre-milonga classes.

Eating and Drinking

Unfortunately the Riley Smith Hall don’t offer catering.  We’ll provide hot drinks and cakes during the day, but you’ll need to bring your own lunch / pop out to the local cafes /  Sainsbury’s for supplies.  Similarly, there are limited choices available in Tadcaster for dinner, so you may prefer to travel out of Tadcaster for dinner (Leeds, York, Wetherby, Boston Spa are all close by) if Italian food / the local craft beer/pizza place isn’t your thing.
